Oh yeah, reminded by the above post, NONE OF THAT FRICKING WEIGHT WATCHERS ADVERTS ON TV EVER!

So demeaning. It's always the woman who needs to lose weight/ looks so much better now she's lost it/ is back to the woman I married...well, you probably had hair then, balding coot.

Also, anyone saying "germs" should be punished severely. Bacteria, virus, microbes, whatever. And furthermore: KILLS 99% OF GERMS DEAD! Domestos advert will be halted as you would hope that, when you kill something, IT IS DEAD! The dead is redundant. *Headdesk* Also, it uses "germs".

Free/subsidized higher education, dependant on an individual's attendance records throughout the previous four years of their educational life (GCSE and A-Level). It'd be based on a sliding scale, the more you put in, the more you will be rewarded. If you have a very good attendance record, you will get free university. If your record is good through to okay, you will get heavily subsidized higher education based on the amount of commitment you had shown previously. Genuine illness and caring responsibilities would not count against you and infact, people in these positions would be given extra resources.

I would turn all UK prisons into sweat shops. Prisoners will work 14 hour days making clothes, for no pay, so that British companies think twice about exploiting workers in third world countries. Every day a prisoner refuses to work, will be an extra day added on to their sentence.

Anybody convicted of sexually abusing a child under the age of 13, with solid DNA/video evidence to prove their guilt conclusively, will be publically executed.

State Pensions will be kept and increased. Nurses will recieve a minimum 25% payrise and steeper fines against people failing to recycle.

Oh yes, killing someone using a car is classed as either manslaughter or murder, depending upon intent. I don't care whether you were drunk, speeding, whatever...you are getting more than 3 f*cking years.

Obvious, exceptions if it was a genuine accident.

I am sick and tired of speed induced and drunk-driving deaths being so pitifully punished. It's a deadly weapon, therefore handle it with care.

People must retake their driving test every 5 years so as to lose the bad habits, however it will be cheaper to retake than doing the first test and money for this will go towards road maintainence, etc.

Too right. I know one of my biggest fears when I sit in a car is injuring someone else in anyway shape or form. And as a pedestrian/cyclist and someone who is learning and soon will be driving, I agree wholeheartedly on the 5 year test system. Though despite another post asking for it to made 10 years, I'm going to maintain the 5 year stance - purely because part of the reason most people I know got so edgy was down to the fact they had never taken a driving test before and had only half a year or so past experience of driving via lessons - after a five year span on the road I'd say your confidence levels should be high enough to take the test with no worries.

I will set up a shelter for the homeless people in towns. This will be charity based, donations of food and clothing welcome. Homeless people will then have a chance to get clean, have an address for which to use to get a job, and get back on their feet. Residency here will be fixed length though. Some of the people will get paid to collect rubbish, sort out the gardens and stuff in town, etc.
Interestingly, their are already organisations doing this. Aside from Childline, these were the only charities I actively supported, once I'm earning enough or have balanced my bank books enough to have spare cash again, then again they'll get something from me every month.

Quote:
Pedestrian crossings will have automatic spikes that will come up around the barriers when the green man comes on, so any c*nt trying to run a light will get spiked. However, this will be sensor operated by emergency vehicles, so if they are within half a mile of the crossing, the spikes will not come up.

Again, good call on these. I've lost track of how many times the fact I've been too tired to initially spot the light change on a crossing has saved my neck due to w*nker drivers just running the lights, its not liket he pedestrian light changes at the same time as the red light comes on either, theirs a good few seconds allowance between the red light coming on before the green man comes on.

Also, to add to this. Driving instructors allowed to report bad drivers - I had a discussion with my old instructor about this, apparently it was an idea they had put to the local police force and been knocked back with some BS reason - they're in a far better position than the police are to spot traffic offenses and should be good enough drivers themselves to be able to make the judgement call needed to tell if its worth reporting or not.

Fail 3 driving tests and have your licence to learn revoked. By then it's pretty clear that you should not be behind the wheel of a car.  That old bint who passed after 28 tests being on the roads is not exactly a promotion of active road safety.

No prison sentences for criminals that aren't dangerous - all prison teaches them is how to commit more crimes.
Punishments that fit the crimes; eg. if you burgle someone, a fine of the value of what you stole/damaged, and any counselling the victim needs.
Make the criminals meet the people they hurt and talk to them and really see what damage they did to the person's life (I've heard about it being done with rapists somewhere in Europe).

Once you've passed your driving test, you have to have more lessons and a second test to get a lisence to drive on motorways and do the things you can't do in normal driving lessons.

No fireworks that bang, crackle, screech or make any unnecessary noise. They can make pretty sparkles and that's it.

Anyone who drops a litter in a public place has it forcibly inserted into their anus, whether it be a mere fag end or a cherry lambrini bottle.

You mean like the Pass Plus, that pretty much any honest instructor will advise against? (I've spoken to a couple about it now, they've all said their is no point in doing it.)

I really see no point in this at all, sure motorways are different to driving on a normal road, but to be honest with you, they should be easier - you have less to worry about in terms of hazards, since only other vehicles will be around you, you're going in a straight line for the majority of the trip, meaning so long as you can keep a steady speed and keep your eyes on the road ahead, you should be fine.

IIRC Clarkson passed a comment that he never uses his brakes on a motorway, the argument being that unless visibility is less than a few meters, you should be able to see far enough ahead to see anything that can cause a possible issue and slow down well in advance accordingly.

For starters I would throw Boris Johnson out of his role as Mayor of London and continue the investment into London's transport network.  Increase the capacity of the trains and keep the bendy bus as it can load and unload passengers alot more quickly than the routemasters ever could.

I can see why the Pass-Plus is still available, as it does help you get a bit of experience in certain situations such as motorway driving - i did my pass-plus and for part of it i was taken onto the M25 at 9am on a monday - i would never have had the confidence to do it if i didn't have the pass plus.

Having said that, we didn't cover all the points of it (no point doing rural driving, living where i do and can't do "adverse weather" as it was good weather) and for what it is, it's a fair bit of money. I know it does save on insurance but i don't know what kind of saving one would make.

All of the England cricket teams home test matches would be on terrestrial TV, and Sky can go take a running jump.

Drink drivers would be heavily, heavily punished, as would hit and runners etc etc. However, in cases of genuine accidents - i.e. cases where the driver is driving below the speed limits and has no alcohol/drugs in their system and ACCIDENTALLY runs someone over - no prison, as this does not solve anything and just fills up the jails quicker. Punishment of some sort if you like, but really not prison.

Anyone who even so much as looks at a police officer the wrong way is arrested. They are not employed for the benefit of the arseholes that harass them.

I agree with this, but there needs to be some kind of safety net where-by you get a second chance. It's not very good for the economy if people that rely on their cars to get to work or carry out their duties just suddenly can't.

I disagree that anybody that doesn't pass after 3 times is a bad driver. My sister is a very good driver but has failed her first three - on every test she's hit the curb reversing round a corner because she was nervous, but with only 5 minors the third time.

I simply don't understand how someone can take more than 3 attempts to pass the test and be seen as a competent driver in the eyes of lawmakers.  If I took 3 attempts to pass a foundation English GCSE i'd be ridiculed and rightly so.

Then again, maybe with a certain percentage of the population who do fail more than they should, it triggers something in their brain which tells them they are sh*t drivers and might just kill someone via their own stupidity, which in turn makes them think extra carefully when on the road and as a byproduct, turns them into competent drivers. Who knows?

I'd say most people that fail do so because of the ridiculous stress you are put under, the better way would be for you to have to complete a minimum amount of supervised driving time (like pilots with flying) then you have 3 tests where they average out the score. I've also heard it alleged by a couple of driving instructors that they can only pass so many people per day...
